BACKGROUND

Founded in the Lake District, Alertacall provides award winning software & hardware to help social housing and retirement living providers have better two-way contact with older & vulnerable people.

Serial founder James started the business to keep vulnerable people safe and has since launched multiple successful products including the “Ok Each Day” function that proactively checks in with tenants via a touchscreen, to ensure they’re safe and well. It increases the frequency of interaction, decreases the feeling of loneliness and prevents the likelihood of undiscovered tenant deaths which have been increasing. If someone is not ok, they are put through to Alertacall’s call centre where they resolve & divert any emergencies.

James is a thought-leader in the space and has built an incredible team around him that have built software in-house and sold multi-year contracts into some of the UK’s largest housing associations with incredible feedback from both tenants and housing associations.

Why we invested?

The founder has developed a best-in-class offering for a large market that has a clear and growing need for such a product. The product is built, live and so technology risk is limited and the client base diverse and very sticky with recurring revenues.

We believe that an increasing ageing population combined with an undersupply of carehome spaces will lead to an increase in elderly remaining in social housing for longer periods and thus the need for housing associations to provide more engagement for this increasingly vulnerable audience to be inevitable. Alertacall is very well placed to ride these tailwinds.

Moving Forward…

Since Middleton Enterprises Growth Capital investment in 2021, the business has continued to improve their product offering as well as launching new products into the market that provide further functionality for housing associations. We will be looking to build out sales while continuing to improve the product’s functionality to remain thought leaders within the industry.
