BACKGROUND
Lifesaver provides self-service power bank stations at high-footfall venues and events. Visitors can rent, swap or buy a fully charged power bank in seconds. Since its founding in 2018, the business has grown from a staffed event service to a large estate of machines on multi-year contracts. It now runs at some of the country’s best-known venues, including Wembley, The O2, OVO Arena and London Zoo, and at major events such as Silverstone, The Open and Winter Wonderland.
Co-founders Archie Wilkinson and Steven Christian the business, supported by a lean operations team that run a fast-growing network of machines across the UK and Europe.
Why we invested in Smash Padel?
Phones are now our tickets, wallets, taxis and cameras, yet visitors to stadiums, arenas, festivals and attractions often run out of battery partway through a long day out. The UK has far fewer charging points than major cities in the US and China, and most suitable venues are still untapped. What set Lifesaver apart was a product built to go where others can’t. Its waterproof machines work outdoors, use a standard low-voltage plug, and carry power banks that are charged safely off-site, which removes the main safety barrier for venues. Add fully branded machines, strong machine-level returns with rapid payback, and a proven record of growing within existing venues. Lifesaver’s profitable, contracted model matches Middleton Enterprises’ investment criteria and gives us confidence to support the team in becoming the UK’s leading charging network.
Moving Forward…
Middleton’s investment will fund new machines to meet a strong pipeline of venues and events, and will build out the new business team to win more long-term contracts. A new compact machine is opening up smaller sites and the business has a proven land-and-expand model. We are excited to back Archie, Steven and the team as they scale.
